Tourists Are Checking Out Hyatt's Respire Rooms

There's never a dull moment in New York City--and tourists will take a photo of anything--which is good news for Hyatt Hotels, which launched its new Respire Rooms with this model room outside the Grand Hyatt yesterday.

We've seen a lot of peekaboo bathrooms but this temporary peekaboo hotel room voyeurism to a new level. (Just not Standard NYC levels. Probably to the dismay of certain tourists.)

As you can imagine a number of Hyatt honchos were on hand for yesterday's event, and Hyatt reps were distributing free handwipes and sanitizer to passersby to help drum up interest in the Respire Rooms.

Hey, is that an iPad on the desk? Sign us up!

In case you're wondering just what makes the Respire Rooms so pure (about from the all-white palette), here's how the PURE purification system works:

Each hotel room is treated comprehensively to minimize allergens and irritants from all surfaces and fabrics. Additionally, all mattresses and pillows are encased in a protective hypo-allergenic covering. The air in the room is continuously circulated through a medical grade purifier, filtering out up to 99 percent of impurities. The room is maintained and re-certified every six months.

As a result, Hyatt claims, the air in Respire Rooms will be, on average, 10 times more pure than outside air.
