Imagine you and 500 of your friends get to sleep here for one night.

The Mandarin Oriental Tokyo is turning five this year and instead of celebrating with a party featuring acrobats pouring champagne from chandeliers or a pop singer, they've decided to put together an unusual hotel package--full rental of the hotel for one-night.. The WSJ reports:

To commemorate the milestone, the posh hotel in the capital’s central Nihonbashi District is willing to turn over its beds wrapped in 450-thread count sheets from Italy, Michelin-rated restaurants and cocktail bars on the 37th and 38th floors to someone and his or her 500 closest acquaintances for one night. If that certain patron’s pockets run 55 million yen (roughly $672,150) deep, that is.

There will also be the option to have a cocktail party for your friends featuring pastries from an award-winning Japanese pastry chef. If someone actually does take the hotel up on this offer (reportedly some individuals and companies are interested) the hotel plans on submitting the stay to the Guinness Book of World Records.

This sounds so fun and wacky but the MO Tokyo hasn't reinvented the insane hotel package wheel here.

Other hotels have offered to whore rent themselves out like the Hard Rock San Diego which offered full use of the hotel for one night for $1 million. More hotels that have featured gimmicky packages at sky-high prices include the $6 million suite at the Taj Boston, the relatively affordable Hotel Takeover Package at the Gem Midtown West, the Hyatt DC's $75,000 Inauguration Package and the Million Dollar Package at the Sydney Hilton.

While the Emirates Palace Hotel's $1 million hotel package includes three nights and lots of ridiculuxe extras, it doesn't include rooms at the hotel for all your friends.

Given all those other high price tabs, the MO Tokyo, a far superior hotel, look like a bargain basement deal! In short, we approve of this insane hotel package if you've got the funds. Just be sure to book before November 30, 2011. And don't forget to send us an invite!
