· 1. Sheraton Tribeca: Well, looky here. This one snuck up on us. Last time we checked, it was opening--with super high rates--on November 11. When we checked the hotel's website last night, we saw the magic words: Opening October 14. That's today! We're not even going to try and make sense of Starwood's date switcheroos but, hey, welcome to the neighborhood, Sheraton! Now, if we could talk about those $461 a night room rates ...

· 2. Aloft Harlem: We thought it was opening on October 21--silly us! It's now been delayed again, this time until November 4. According to the website--but it changes its mind so often we wouldn't make a rezzie here until we were sure the doors were open and the beds ready. The first availability we could find online was for November 11, with rates starting at $239 a night plus tax.

· 3. Setai Fifth Avenue: The official date was meant to be November 1 but the first date we can find availability is November 8. That's for a Superior Room, at $595 a night. Standard rooms start at $545 when available.

· 4. The Nolitan:This downtown newbie could open just after Thanksgiving but early December is more likely. Best available rates start at $441 a night.

· 5. Element Times Square West: It's one of those Starwood date-changing enigmas, which we last thought was debuting on December 18. Now? Looks like December 9. The good news is there's a limited-time sale on opening rates: starting from $199 a night. But that's fully prepaid, no cancellation or changes allowed.

· 6. The Sanctuary Hotel New York: It's currently open as the Portland Square Hotel, but we haven't heard any further news since we let you know that the property will assume its new identity in December. If you're lucky, you might get to stay in one of the few Sanctuary rooms that are already done before then. Rates are around $319 a night this month.
