The Kimberly Hotel's Rooftop Bar Will Now Open in Spring
The holidays are over, we’re back at work, and it’s freakin’ cold in New York. Who needs a drink? The concept of a rooftop bar may not set your heart aglow right this second, but we’re happy to daydream about outdoor cocktails on a warm spring day. Specifically, cocktails at two new hotel rooftop bars in NYC—The Strand and The Kimberly Hotel.
If you’re not familiar with The Kimberly, you’re not alone. The small, European-styled hotel in east Midtown even bills itself as “one of New York's hidden treasures.” But when their new rooftop bar Upstairs opens, the hotel can kiss that best-kept secret tag goodbye. New Yorkers are pros at sniffing out outdoor drinking spots, and with rooftops in short supply, Upstairs is bound to become a mob scene.
While there was hope the bar would open in December, a rep tells us that Upstairs is “only in previews” and will not be open to the public until the spring. It will be winter-proof, however. Like the Top of the Strand, it has a retractable roof, as well as heated floors to keep your toes nice and toasty if you forget your Uggs.
So far, Upstairs has hosted a New Year’s Eve party and a few private events. Were you there? Drop us a line and give us the goss. We want to know all about this rooftop to help flesh out our springtime daydreams.
