The Peninsula Hong Kong Adds Two Mini Coopers to Its Toybox
Counting a helicopter, 14 Rolls-Royce Phantoms and one 1934 Rolls-Royce Phantom II in Peninsula Green, naturally, among its offerings of toys, Peninsula Hong Kong doesn't do things small. That's why it was a surprise that it added two new MINI Cooper S Clubmans to its fleet in celebration of the hotel's 81st anniversary last month.
Of course, these aren't any old Mini Coopers. BMW spent two years custom-making the bespoke itty-bitty cars, which marked a first for the vehicle company. The little rides are pimped out with a custom-illuminated Peninsula logo on the door entry sills, leather finishing and they rock the hotel's signature hunter green on the exterior.
Each car is also fitted with a mini-fridge stocked with goodies and cold towels and an iPhone/iPod connection in the front and rear. And in case you're worried that your shopping bags won't fit into the tiny car if you go on a bender, the Mini Coops are equipped with tailor-made mounted rooftop boxes.
The Mini Coopers are free for guests who stay in one of the suites, which range from $6,120 to $68,000 a night. Don't worry, that's Hong Kong dollars as a commenter helpfully pointed out. Phew! (?) You read that right. With the latter price, you could buy yourself about three Mini Coopers.
