Yes indeed. With a name like Cabbages and Condoms this resort in Thailand which houses the Birds and Bees Hotel, will never make it on any sappy "Baby Moon or "Conception Moon" hotels lists.

No, seriously, we're not joking. There is a Cabbages and Condoms restaurant in Pattaya and next door to it is the Birds and Bees resort. And as you can expect, the hotel and restaurant do worship the condom. It also promotes itself as family-friendly, which might not be so great. The Economist writes in a recent post about themed hotels:

As a family holiday venue, "Cabbages and Condoms" turned out to be much less unsuitable than we initially feared. On entering our room I was taken aback to find the walls tastefully adorned with murals of fish made from brightly coloured prophylactics.

Over at the restaurant, the table tops have condom art underneath a top glass.

But the whole thing is not just some wacky homage to condoms however. The resort funds the Population and Community Development Association (PDA) a governmental charity organization that contributes to Thailand's rural development, education, HIV/AIDS education and environmental protection, among other things.

Rooms start at 2,500 baht for an Elephant room (despite the name it's the starting category) and up to 10,000 baht for a Big Bee family suite. Yes, afamily suite with bunk beds.

If you ever wanted to make your conversation with your children about the Birds and Bees memorable, a trip to this resort will certainly do the trick. And you can calm your nerves down at the Skinny dip bar!
