Geeks and Porn Stars to Arrive in Vegas This Weekend

As VegasChatter put it, this first week of January is The Most Wonderful Time of The Year … For Techies and Porn Stars. That’s right, the Consumer Electronics Show and the Adult Entertainment Expo are in town! And Vegas hotel owners are happy because most of them are sold out for the duration of the events, from Wednesday Jan 6–Sunday, Jan 10.

Thursday and Friday nights are the most heavily booked—and all the big-name casinos on and off the Strip have very limited availability any night. All is not lost, though. Here are a few options we found for last-minute geeks and gawkers.

The Hard Rock Hotel & Casino has rooms available in the Paradise Tower on Wednesday night and Sunday night for $106, and Saturday night for $156. In the HRH All-Suites Tower, rooms are available for $146 Wednesday and Sunday, and $206 Saturday night. These are all through the CES attendees’ booking site.

The CES site also has …
Mandalay Bay for $129 a night Wednesday and Saturday, and $89 on Sunday night.

Alexis Park for $79 a night, Wed–Sun.

Circus Circus starting at $50 on Wednesday night, with Thursday and Friday nights for $75 a night.

Not attending CES but still want to (ahem) sleep in Vegas this weekend? At Expedia, you can still book Circus Circus for $149 a night, the Stratosphere for $192 a night, and the Tropicana for $167 a night.

Thanks to a nightmare last-minute CES booking a few years back, we got in early and will be bunking in a GO room at the Flamingo and at the still-spankin’-new Vdara. Our inner geek can’t wait to play with the remote-controlled blackout shades, the flat-screen TVs, and the in-room WiFi, even though we have to (yuk) pay for it.

Finally, if you want to room next to a porn star, your best bet is the Palms Casino Resort, which is hosting the AVN Awards on Saturday night. Rooms are still available through the hotel directly—for a whopping $999 on Thursday night, $699 on Friday night, but just $209 on Saturday, the night of the “Oscars of Porn.”
