Welcome to our regular feature, Pitch Your Hotel, where we let hoteliers, general managers and other hotel execs tell us on-camera what makes their hotels so different from all the rest. And believe us, the competition is fierce these days. So sit back, relax and listen to them explain why their hotels are worthy of your hard-earned dollars or rewards points.

Not keen on staying in cupboard room on your next trip to Londontown? Then why not go the opposite end of the spectrum by staying at The Athenaeum Hotel in London, one of London's very few privately run, independent hotels which has 34 townhouse apartments attached.

Naturally, these apartments lend themselves to famous folk on extended stays like Steven Spielberg (who turned one of the rooms into his film editing office) and Margaret Thatcher who chose to live in the Athenaeum while her house was being renovated. But these are also good choices for families who need more space during their trips.

And while the Dean Street Hotel is one of London's newest hotels, The Athenaeum, overlooking the city's Green Park, is sort of new in its own right. The hotel has just completed a £7 million refurbishment from top to bottom, creating a spectacular "living wall" by botanist Patrick Blanc on the hotel's exterior as well as giving the rooms inside an ultra-modern new look. (We're in love with the bedposts in the hotel's suites that we saw on the website.)

Yet as much as we are dazzled by the pretty new things inside the guest rooms, the hotel has maintained some of its very important free perks like with complimentary WiFi and complimentary snacks and drinks from the minibar, which as general manager Jonathan Critchard tells us, is virtually unheard of for London hotels. Alas, rates here do tend to be on the higher end, starting at $450 a night.

So we're already sold on the free WiFi, the new look of the guest rooms and the convenience of the apartment accommodations (this is especially good for families who will have a "bespoke" kids concierge department at their disposal), but what about the location? As we all know, this is a crucial question when planning a stay in London. If price doesn't come first, then surely location does.

Here general manager Critchard who has been with the property for 15 years, tell us where The Athenaeum is located in London and how far it is from where you want to go.

Ah! I kept walking by the Athenaeum...and because I really did not like the place I was staying during my first few days in London (which did not have free wifi and kept me gritting my teeth in anger and nerves the whole time), I probably should have stayed at the Athenaeum. Next time.
