Where To Stay For the Pro Bowl for Under $200

Can’t afford a Super Bowl trip but in desperate need of some sun and pigskin regardless? It ain’t Hawaii, but the Pro Bowl is on this weekend at Sun Life Stadium—and hotel rooms are a lot more affordable than they are a week later. And unlike Super Bowl weekend, you don’t need a 3 or 4-night minimum stay. We did a rate check this morning and found the following Miami and Fort Lauderdale hotels available for Sunday night, all for under $200.

Miami
Hotel Urbano You can get a room at this artsy boutique hotel on Brickell for $164.90. The best part? It’s brand new.

Hilton Miami Downtown Book on Expedia for $151 a night.

Riviera South Beach Stay Sunday night for $190, via Quikbook.

Townhouse Hotel Also through Quikbook, for $175 a night, including complimentary breakfast.

Fort Lauderdale
Gallery One – A Doubletree Guest Suites Hotel Got a yacht? Sail right up to this Intracoastal hotel for $134 a night via Expedia.

Marriott Fort Lauderdale North Book on Quikbook for $189 a night.

And Then There’s …
NFL On Location has packages that will get you into the Pro Bowl game, and provide transfers from your hotel, access to a sideline VIP area, and three nights (Jan 29–31) in a Deluxe Lanai Garden/Marina room at the Hyatt Regency Pier 66 Resort & Spa. Double occupancy is $1,499.

So, you won’t see Tom Brady, Phillip Rivers, Peyton Manning, or Drew Brees in this increasingly irrelevant match-up. But with any luck you can catch some second-hand pre-Super Bowl fever from the folks already in town for the big game the following Sunday.

As for the game itself...

The word around town is that interest in the game is at a fever pitch -- a very low fever. You can probably walk into the stadium parking lot on game day, scalp tickets for any price you care to pay, then go sit in a better seat.

Probably a safe bet the game will return to Hawaii next year.
