Who Dat? Saints Fans Bring The Party to New Orleans Hotels

New Orleans fans won’t be the only ones chanting “Who dat? Who dat?” this Sunday when the team takes on the Vikings in the N.F.C. championship game. The hotels of New Orleans will be as fired up as the crowds at the Superdome, thrilled at how the Saints’ success has helped them bounce back from the tough years following Hurricane Katrina.

As one lifelong Saints fan told USA Today, the team “has helped 100% to restore our psyche … the Saints have added true monetary value to the rebranding of New Orleans as a winner."

And whether it’s former residents returning home to see their once-beleaguered team march towards the Super Bowl, or locals treating themselves to game-night celebrations, that winning streak is running through the city’s hotels, too. Mary Beth Romig from the New Orleans Convention and Visitors Bureau said:

"We did notice last week the hotel occupancy in the city rose over 80% because of the Saints. There's a natural increase in spending in restaurants, bars and grocery stores because we New Orleanians love a party."

If you want to join in the hoo-ha, there are still rooms available for this weekend, including these three picks ...

Budget
Holiday Inn New Orleans-Downtown Superdome Due to its proximity to the Dome, rooms are a little more than some of the higher-end properties this weekend—from $169 a night.

Boutique
Loft 523 This hip-looking hotel warns guests booking the Loft Will Rock You Suite that it is “not for the light sleeper or someone who is early to bed,” since it’s located above the bar. It’s available for $149 a night. The quieter rooms start at $179 a night, but after the big game, who needs sleep?

Luxe
The Roosevelt New Orleans This historic hotel reopened last year (under the Waldorf-Astoria Collection) and is close to the Dome. This weekend rooms start at just $159 a night.

Geaux Saints!
