The concept is being kept a strict secret, with Meyer and Schrager even keeping it from hotel staff.
Whatever it is, the concept is definitely going to be less expensive than Maialino. The rooftop space is set to reopen sometime in 2010, according to GPH's website.
[UPDATE: The hotel rooftop is currently open to hotel guests so it's free for you to roam about. UPDATE 2: The rooftop is also serving food and drinks, starting at 2:30pm. Flatbreads, salads, steak sliders and desserts are currently on the menu. ]
Considering that more than a few people we know consider Shake Shack's burgers to be the best they have ever tasted, this could be another good move for GPH. Then again, a Shake Shack at GPH?
Interestingly, there is one hotel that will definitely be getting a Shake Shack--the upcoming Intercontinental Times Square. According to Shake Shack's website it lists a new location opening in 2010 at 8th Avenue and 44th Street, "at the base of the Intercontinental." Given that the Intercontinental is opening on July 1st, expect to enjoy your juicy Shake Shack burger in Times Square around then.
