Trump SoHo’s general manger David Chase confirms that February 1st is no longer the opening date—and that at this stage no new date has been announced. Ivanka’s Trump SoHo Countdown contest is still running (you have until January 31st to enter) and the opening-party part of the prize still stands … whenever the party is rescheduled.
Chase is in the midst of hiring up to 380 staff and the hotel’s PR rep tells us that the site is a hive of activity:
We are swiftly moving forward—interior finishes are near completion, furniture is being delivered to guest rooms, chefs are perfecting the menus in the kitchen, and the hotel staff is actively preparing for opening.
Rooms are still starting at $599 on the hotel’s online reservation system for March 1st but apparently there will be a promotional rate of $399 available in the spring, based on availability.
We’d tell you that the latest spate of hotel delays can be attributed to something in the water, but truth be told this is just another day at the office in the Hotel Opening Tracking Game. Let’s hope Trump’s signature pomp and pride get this baby out of the gate sooner rather than later.
