Texas does everything big, so it's a fitting setting for the JW Marriott San Antonio Hill Country Resort & Spa, the world's largest outpost of the brand. The super-big resort, set along 600 rolling acres in Texas Hill Country, makes its debut on January 22.

When we say big, we aren't kidding: the resort will have 1,002 rooms, including 85 suites; two 18-hole PGA Tour Tournament Player’s Club golf courses; a 26,000-square-foot spa complete with a fitness center and studio that will offer classes; and seven restaurants and lounges.

Another one of the large-and-in-charge amenities is the River Bluffs Water Experience, a six-acre water park. Thrill-seekers will like the 650-foot rapid river ride and three water slides, while others will prefer to chillax in the 1,100-foot-long lazy river. You'll also have your choice of pools, since there'll be children's pools, an adult pool, hot and cold plunge pools and whirlpools. The best part is that you won't have to wait for summer to get wet; the outdoor water park is heated during cool-weather months.

Located less than 20 minutes from the San Antonio International Airport and a half hour from downtown, the resort is offering a special introductory rate. For stays through February, rooms start at $149, regularly $289 a night. Duffers can opt for the $288 package, normally $445, which includes breakfast and a round on the one of the PGA Tour Tournament Players Club courses.

It's extremely annoying you never link to the actual hotel you're blogging about...and downright shoddy you don't give photo credit. Here, let me help: http://www.marriott.com/hotels/travel/satjw-jw-marriott-san-antonio-hill-country-resort-and-spa/

Website links

Hi Nick,
The website link is always found at the top of the story under the address. It's a little Hotel icon. Click that and it takes you to the hotel's own website.

Rates

I tried booking every night in February and didn't see a rate of $145.

Checking with hotel

This is the rate they quoted to us. We are checking with them to see how guests can get this. Stay tuned.

Rate Update

Here's the 411 on how to get the rates listed in the story: When you make a reservation, click the "corporate/promotional code" box and include the following:

  • $149 package - online code is LPR (if calling by phone, use the code LLOA)

  • $288 package - online code is GOF (if calling by phone, use the code LLOD)

Sorry for the confusion, but the hotel only released these special codes today.

Nick, thanks for your comments. If you scroll down to the bottom of HotelChatter stories, you'll see photo credits in italics there.
