Amazingly (for Jets fans), we have good news: there are, and they’re pretty affordable, too. The best bets for fans flying in from New York are the chains in Mission Valley—ie. close to Qualcomm Stadium. There are lots of pretty hotels in downtown San Diego but let’s face it, this is the kind of trip where you only go back to your room to sleep off the 6-hour bender that follows a convincing Jets victory. (Oh yeah, we’re Gang Green all the way.)
The game is on at 1:40 Pacific on Sunday, so we checked for rooms available on Saturday and Sunday night. Here’s what we found a short drive or trolley ride away from Chargers HQ:
Sheraton San Diego Hotel, Mission Valley: You can get a room with 2 queen beds from $80 a night, or a 1-bedroom suite with sofa bed for $250 a night.
Hilton San Diego Mission Valley: Rooms start at $129 a night.
San Diego Marriott Mission Valley: Rooms with two double beds are $179 a night.
Doubletree Hotel San Diego-Mission Valley: 2-queen rooms start at $149 a night.
Personally, we don’t think we can stomach the thought of seeing Phillip Rivers in person, so we won’t be at the game. Unless, perhaps Jets coach Rex Ryan and QB Mark Sanchez put on their dancing shoes and give us an answer video to the LT Slide …
