The US Grant and the Blackstone Renaissance Turn the Big 1-0-0

The US Grant Lobby.
Two historic U.S. hotels are celebrating their 100th birthdays this year, but they want to give you a gift instead of vice versa.
To mark the centennial festivities, San Diego's U.S. Grant and Chicago's Blackstone Renaissance are offering discounts and prizes.
The Grant is asking former guests to submit their fondest memory of staying at the downtown hotel on its website, where you can read all of the contest entries. Then each month from February through September, hotel staff will chose a favorite and the storyteller will win a two-night stay at the Grant and be eligible for grand-prize drawing.
The big prize, which will be announced on the hotel's official anniversary, October 15, includes two round-trip airline tickets to San Diego, a three-night stay in the presidential suite, a wine-pairing dinner for two at the Grant Grill and a sailing trip.
The Blackstone's going a little more low-key with its par-tay. It's offering $100 rooms through April 10, the first 100 days of the year. You can toast the hotel with its rollback-the-prices drinks at Mercat a la Planxa. Champagne cocktails, Singapore slings and Flora Doras—made with raspberry-infused gin and home-brewed ginger ale—will cost you $1 each. That'll definitely put us in the partying mood.
To get the room rate and the dollar cocktails, use the promotional code "BAR" when booking online or over the phone.
