Before The Hangover (and Renee) Bradley Cooper Was a Hotel Doorman

A man in uniform, holding the hotel door open for us, candles flickering … Let’s make that Bradley Cooper in uniform, flashing us that smile … Oops. Hello there! Yes, you caught us daydreaming, but if we had a time machine this could have been a reality. Back in the late '90s when Morgans was the hottest hotel in New York City, it had a doorman to match: future Hollywood heartthrob Bradley Cooper.
The Hangover star was on Letterman last week, chatting about his gig at the first Morgans Hotel, which apparently involved lighting up the lobby in more ways than one. Part of the job description was keeping the tea lights dotted around the room lit when gusts of wind from the door opening blew them out.
“I spent most of my time trying to relight those candles,” Cooper told Dave.
And even though tea lights were a ’90s craze, they made the cut when Morgans got an overhaul in 2008 and are still flickering away in the lobby today.

We’re guessing Cooper stays elsewhere when in New York these days (who wants to sleep where they used to work?), but if you want to sweep into Morgans and imagine it’s 1998 all over again, rooms at the Madison Ave granddaddy of boutique hotels start at $329 a night.
If anyone's taking bets on what hotel the next hot actor will come from, we say either the mancandy at The Standard or Gramercy Park Hotel will be it. Seriously, have you seen those bellmen?
