Tapas and Tagines Dinner at Shorebreak Hotel’s Zimzala

We started the day talking about lunch and now we'll wrap it up talking about dinner. Yeah, we're hungry over here!

Have a hankering for tapas in Huntington Beach? Next Thursday, September 17, Joie De Vivre’s Shorebreak Hotel is hosting a special dinner at its restaurant, the Spanish-Moroccan Zimzala. The dinner is a three-course multi-cultural nod to the cuisine of Mediterranean cookbook author and James Beard Award winner, Chef Joyce Goldstein, who consults with Zimzala’s Executive Chef, Vincent Muraco, and will feature a veritable cornucopia of Spanish and Moroccan specialties.

The evening will start with a cocktail reception and cookbook signing by Chef Goldstein at 7:00pm. At 8:00pm, the seated dinner (served family-style) begins, followed by desserts out on the Shorebreak’s "Deck."

We got a sneak peek at the menu, so we can let you in on the broad selection of dishes that diners can enjoy:

Tapas (to be served family style at the tables)
· Goat cheese, raisin and pine nut-filled piquillo peppers
· Ham & gruyere croquetas
· Grilled bread with crushed chickpeas and paprika
· Escalavida of eggplant, onions and peppers
· Albondigas with 2 sauces
· Grilled shrimp with romesco
· Serrano-wrapped melon with mint and hot pepper

Tagines
· Lamb tagine with raisins and almonds and couscous
· Fish tagine with chickpeas and roasted peppers
· Vegetable Tagine with Harissa
· Green olive stew

Dessert (to be served outside on the deck)
· Crema Catalana (these will be small and almost bite sized)
· Almond semolina cake with honeyed apricots
· Zimzala chocolate ganache with olive and sea salt on grilled sourdough

The dinner costs $75 per person, and includes wine pairings, so consider getting a room at the hotel if you’re going all out. You can RSVP directly to the hotel at (714) 861-4470. Rates for that night start at $180
