Here’s where to find the newest places to rest your head in Manhattan, and what you can expect once they throw open their doors. (It goes without saying that all dates subject to change.)
The Crosby Street Hotel: Opening September 29. It's got a prime SoHo location and looks pretty in pink. But it's pricey at $525 a night.
The Strand Hotel: Possibly opening October 1 in the garment district, close to the Empire State Building. Rooms will feature vintage fashion prints to remind you of where you are.

The Surrey: A new luxury hotel opening October 1. The earliest reservations available as of today were for October 15, starting at $579 a night. Well, it is on the Upper East Side. And the lobby will feature a Cartier "closet".

The Distrikt Hotel: Opening October 28. Also in the garment district, but will pay homage to other areas, too. Think Neighborhoodies in hotel form. Rooms start at $275 a night (but as of today there were only two left at that rate for opening day.)

Ink48: This new hotel from Kimpton will finally start taking reservations on November October 1. Previously known as the VU Hotel, the 19-story hotel in Hell's Kitchen/Clinton 'hood on 48th Street will feature a roof-top lounge, open-air gardens and whirlpools, and views of Time Square and the Hudson River. It's been branded as an art-centric hotel with room rates starting at $425 a night.

Fashion 26: The Wyndham website says "Opening Fall," but they’re not taking reservations yet. Perfect for Project Runway fans, it’s located opposite the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT). Promised amenity: cupcakes upon arrival.

Trump SoHo: Opening January 4, although the earliest date we could book as of today is February 8. Rooms start at $389 a night. The SoHo scene is starting to heat up, but The Don promises the city’s biggest spa, and a pool—with cabanas.

W New York Downtown: Wall Street gets Starwooded! But not until February 4, 2010 now—according to the hotel/residence’s website.

The Chatwal: For the longest time, the opening was set for September, but now, according to the Leading Hotels of the World website, Vikram’s latest debut has been postponed to Spring 2010. Which is handy—it will give us time to save up for the million-dollar-a-night rooms.

The Mondrian Soho: Yes, another hotel for SoHo. The Mondrian is set for a second quarter 2010 opening so it will be awhile. Still, the hotel will be done in the design-forward Mondrian style and Top Chef alum/hottie Sam Talbott will be the hotel's executive chef. Put it this way: Your parents will stay at Trump SoHo but you'll shack up at the Mondrian instead.
