You can lounge here after your charitable spa treatment.

You can ease your guilt about splurging at the spa by telling yourself that you're doing it to help others. For real. If you book La Costa Resort and Spa's "Pink Ribbon Treatment," a portion will benefit breast cancer research.

To celebrate Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the spa will offer the Pink Ribbon Treatment daily except for Saturdays, Oct. 1 to Nov. 7. The special allows you to book any 50-minute spa service for $125, and $5 of that will be donated to the San Diego chapter of the Susan G. Komen For the Cure. It still may seem like a lot of dough, but you can save up to $40. The lomilomi—a Hawaiian-type of massage that uses continuous, flowing strokes—usually costs $165 and the custom facial normally is $160.

After your spa service, fill your sweet tooth at the outdoor Spa Cafe. Pink-special buyers get a price cut on the Pink Ribbon dessert, a Tahitian vanilla bean cupcake with pink buttercream frosting. Afterward, peruse La Costa's Plaza Shops, which include the Lilly Pulitzer boutique Pinkalicious, to use your one-time 25 percent discount, valid through October.

If you're one of the kind-hearted walkers conquering 60 miles in the San Diego Breast Cancer 3-Day Walk, the Carlsbad hotel will give you even more slashed prices. Following the walk, Nov. 24 to 26, get a much-deserved 50-minute La Costa massage, a custom facial, a sports massage, reflexology or a California renewal body treatment for $105. Or you can book an overnight getaway before or after the walk with the Pink Ribbon Slumber Package, which includes a room for two and one 50-minute spa treatment per person from $469 per night. You must show proof of participation in the walk when checking into the hotel.
