TripAdvisor Picks Ten Not-Too-Bad Hotels for Under $19

OK, this isn't The Mondrian South Beach but it is cheap.
You wouldn't expect to find too many hotels on a list of under $19 accommodation, but TripAdvisor has so many they've made a Top 10 list. And sure, we're not talking five-star luxury or anything, but if you're traveling on a budget it's good to know just how many super-cheap options there are out there.
But what do you get for under $19? For a start, not one of the hotels in the Top 10 has ever been featured here on HotelChatter, so we feel like we're treading a little into unknown territory. But it ain't all bad, we think. Take the #1 pick, the Hotel Lion d'Or in Buenos Aires, which starts at $14 a night, and rates well in the top half of the 340 hotels that TA monitors in the Argentinean capital.
Or the Venus Hotel in Luxor, Egypt, which has plenty of good comments about its central location and friendly, family-run atmosphere – some past guests have complained it's a little dirty, but for $9 a night, you can't have really high expectations.
Other under $19 bargains include the Tod Motor Hotel in Las Vegas, the Dai Hoang Kim Hotel in Ho Chi Minh City and the cheapest on the list, the El Panchan in Palenque, Mexico, which has rooms starting at only $6 a night.
Most of these places have an average four-star rating from TripAdvisor guests so they can't be too horrid, and if they are, well, you've hardly wasted any money if you skip out and find somewhere else to stay for the night.
