Despite our fears for the worst, it seems the St. Regis Princeville is actually still on track to reopen Oct. 1 (or Sept. 26, if you trust its website). The first-ever St. Regis resort on Hawaii, the Kauai resort is finishing up a multi-million dollar renovation that includes a new Halele’a Spa, golf course designed by Robert Trent Jones II, and a new resto—called Kaua’I Grill—by Jean-Georges Vongerichten.

To ring in the good news, the 252-room St. Regis Princeville is launching the Quintessential Celebration Series, a four-part guest party through October and November. The four celebration offers will be available to a limited number of guests and will include a five-night stay for two, beachside welcome reception, two days of activities and events, and a ticket to the St. Regis Princeville Gala Evening with “notable honorary guests.”

Celebration highlights:

* Oct. 1-4: The Arts, Culture & Style celebration will include the re-release of the 1958 film South Pacific, which was filmed next door. Some of the film’s original actors will make cameos.

* Oct. 22-25: The Sport & Adventure celebration will feature eco-sports adventures, from a day at the ocean with a pro surfer to a naturalist guided tour of the island’s private forest preserves. Plus, golf course designer Robert Trent Jones II will be on hand to give private tours.

* Nov. 5-8: Spa & Wellness is the third theme, with treatments at the new spa, natural cuisine by the resort’s Executive Chef, Carlos Jorge, and training sessions with fitness pros.

* Nov. 19-22: Finally, the Epicurean celebration will be hosted by Jean-Georges himself, leading a day of exploration of Hawaii’s regional and artisanal foods, which includes a tasting seminar of Hawaiian-grown chocolates and fine champagnes. Plus, wine-maker dinners and rare treats from the resort’s chef.

Any of those strike your fancy? Well, we guess you better start pinching pennies, considering each five-night stay is priced at $5,520 per couple.
