What Hoteliers and General Managers Have to Say About This and That

September 21, 2009 at 5:44 PM | by juliana | 0 Comments

We do a lot of talk-talking about hotels here at HotelChatter and while we love getting Reader Reviews and Tips and Comments, we also loooooove hearing back from hoteliers, hotel general managers and other hotel staffers themselves, directly on the site, and not through their paid PR people. Here's a few comments that we received on stories recently that we think you should read as well.

· The Distrikt Hotel's GM Speaks About What's on the Block:

We are indeed across the street from the Port Authority, which has been experiencing a transformation as well. Our guests are welcome to visit Duane Reade, but we will also have those forgotten or confiscated toiletries they may need on their travels. The New York Times Building is an amazing structure, and who could resist Dean and Deluca with a barrista rated fourth in the world? We don't like the DVD store with toys, but we imagine they will soon meet the fate their brethren did when "crazy" Disney decided to clean up an area called Broadway. We really love New York.

· The Chief Beer Officer Comments!:

While I always love being able to taste beer on the job, it is really talking about that beer drinking experience with the Four Points guest that I enjoy most. Nothing like a cold glass of beer after a long day of work to relax and make your travels uncomplicated.

· The Hotel Max's Director of Sales Clears Up Some Package Confusion:

Our "Raid the Honor Bar Package" is good on one of our Deluxe Rooms (Artist King or Art of Two Beds). Besides offering a 50% discount on all minibar purchases, it also includes Valet Parking with in/out privileges, an In-room Movie and WIFI. Our Minibars don't only carry yummy candy and beverages but also have Hotel Max T-Shirts, a fabulous Intimacy Kit, Luxury Frette Robes, and our Maximalism Art Book. It is important to note that any and all reservations booked under this package do not require pre-payment and area changeable and cancellable.

· A Hotelier Responds to a Guest's Pet Peeves:

(This is just a portion of the long comment.) Freebies are great, especially in a luxury hotel, but remember nothing is really "free", it's always built into the price of the room. I am a responsible traveler, I remember to bring my deodorant and razors. I would rather pay $300/night and pony up when I forget something than pay $306.86/night and come home with a cheap toothbrush and a small tube of that gross-flavored plain Crest.
