Talk about a major party foul. An electrical fire yesterday at the Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas sent guests scrambling from all parts of the hotel, including the sportsbook during the opening day of the NFL and from Rehab, the hotel's infamous pool party. KTNV reports:

The fire was started by an air conditioning unit overheating in a wall between the existing resort and a new building being built on site. There were no fire alarms in the area where the fire flared up, but the heavy smoke alerted security and guests.

As guests were herded into a back parking lot at the hotel, firefighters worked to put out the relatively small fire. There was some water and smoke damage and one security guard was taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation injuries but is expected to be just fine.

Even though most hotels list their fire evacuation routes on the back of the hotel room door or in the in-room compendium, we highly doubt anyone ever studies these routes. And if you watch this video, the evacuation process seemed a little chaotic at the Hard Rock with this batch of folks pissed that they had to evacuate. The narrator also says, "We're outside by the pool where no one seems to give a rat's ass."

Meanwhile, it looks like the hotel's Paradise Tower still needs some work. Hopefully everyone else was able to get some free shots for the inconvenience to their partying.
