Oktoberfest 2008.

Yes, Oktoberfest is back! Or will be back on September 19 with the Lord Mayor of Munich cries, "Ozapft is!" ("It's been tapped"). But if you're planning on making your way to Munich for the festivities, we recommend doing two things.

First, read our tips for Surviving Oktoberfest. We attended it last year and if you'd like not awake the morning after with rain-soaked pants and vomit-covered sneakers, then you'd do well to heed our advice.

Second, checkout the Oktoberfest Package from the Charles Hotel, a Rocco Forte property, in the city's old Botanical Gardens.

The package offers two nights accommodations in a room or a suite, seating in one of the beer tents at Oktoberfest, a breakfast buffet, an in-room welcome amenity including a Lebkuchen Heart ginger cookie, a beer and an Oktoberfest guidebook, and a Welcome Cocktail in the hotel's bar. As if you needed more to drink.

If you do think you want to stay here, just be aware this hotel still a metro stop from the city's center of Marienplatz and two stops from the Oktoberfest tents. So make sure you know your transportation routes before you start prosting.

The package is available from September 19th to October 4th starting at 380 Euros per night which includes VAT, city tax and service charge. We weren't able to find it on the hotel's website but you can call the Rocco Forte Collections reservations number at 1 888 667 9477 to book.
