Two made it onto the Top 25 list in Conde Nast Traveler’s Readers’ Spa Awards 2009—The Standard Spa (#6), and The Spa at Mandarin Oriental (#15)—and one got a bit old love letter from the New York Times earlier this year (Canyon Ranch).
Our picks of places to get primped and pummeled include:
– Agua, Mondrian South Beach: Because who doesn’t want to get a massage or “Head in the Clouds” facial and scalp treatment in a room that looks like a disco ball?
– Lapis Spa, Fontainebleau: Because like everything else at the hotel, it’s big, and because in addition to your treatment, you get to use the gym and hotel pools for the day.
– Canyon Ranch Miami Beach Wellness Spa: Just for the “Aquavana™ Experience”, where you get to dunk yourself in healing waters, soaking tubs, and experiential rains, and try out the thermal cabins, igloo, crystal steam room and heated loungers. This all before you even get your massage!
– The Palms Hotel & Spa: Because unlike most Spa Month deals which offer just a massage or a facial, here you can get a massage, facial, or body wrap—with a mani/pedi thrown in. Plus, it’s an Aveda Spa, so it smells like heaven, and they include use of their beach and pool as well.
– The Spa at Icon Brickell (Viceroy Hotel): Because it looks so fairytale pretty, our friend raved about it, and because the Quenched Facial (“a reviving drink for sun weary skin”) sounds like just what we need at the tail end of summer.
– The Standard Spa: So we can scope out the “Do-It-Yourself” hydrotherapy menu, and because the promo treatments are called the “Be Young and Beautiful” facial and the “Lazy Yoga” Thai massage.
Treatments are also available at the Gansevoort South’s The Spa At David Barton Gym, The Setai, The Shore Club, and a bunch of other hotel spas.
Go—get rubbed.
