Miami's Hotel Restaurants Get Hot and Spicy

August 3, 2009 at 2:14 PM | by MsRebecca | 0 Comments

Can’t afford to stay at the Fontainebleau, the Mandarin Oriental, or the Versace Mansion? No worries; just scrape together thirty-five clams and go to town at one of their signature restaurants instead.

Miami in August: Humidity is at an all-time high, and there’s close to 50 percent chance of thunderstorms. That rules out the beach, but who cares when you can stuff your face instead? Thanks to the Miami Spice promo (running through August and September), you can score $22 lunches and $35 dinners at the swankiest restaurants in town.

Almost all the restaurants taking part in Miami Spice are located in hotels, so you can have a snoop around between courses or after dessert.

Browse the menus and schedules carefully—some restaurants are only doing lunch, or only dinner, and many are not offering either on Fridays and Saturdays.

Here’s what made our mouth water as we browsed the menus:

· Cuban BBQ Chicken with Thai Coconut Rice and Avocado Fruit Salsa at the Mondrian South Beach’s Asia de Cuba (dinner)
· Anything at Hakkasan at the Fontainebleau (if we can bring ourselves to pay $35 for Chinese)
· Rock Shrimp Gnocchi at the Mandarin Oriental's Azul (dinner)
· Black Angus BLT Burger with Aged Cheddar at BLT Steak at The Betsy (lunch)
· Lobster Corn Dogs with Mustard Crème Friache (and Bunuelos for dessert) at The Tides’ La Marea (lunch)
· Chorizo Crusted Grouper Sandwich with Avocado Cream at The Raleigh Restaurant (lunch)
· Smoked Duck Tacos at The National Hotel’s Tamara (dinner appetizer)

Have you sampled a Miami Spice menu at one of the city’s hotel? Liked it? Loathed it? Send us your reviews!
