Update: Fashion26 may or may not be the correct name, we will let you know if that name is in, or out as soon as we hear.

"One day you're in; the next, you're out."

The wise words of Heidi Klum do not only apply to the suffering contestants on Project Runway but also to the world of Fashion Hotels. It seems there's always a sexy, sleek new fashion hotel just waiting for their time to strut down the hospitality runway. Ok, ok, we'll stop with the metaphors and get right to the point.

There's a new fashion hotel opening in Manhattan this fall. No, it's not called "The September Issue," although we really wish it were. Fashion 26 will open on W. 26th Street, fittingly right across from the Fashion Institute of Technology aka FIT.

The hotel will have 280 rooms, a rooftop lounge with views of the Empire State Building and a burger joint called RARE (which is not how we like our burgers and BTW, do fashionistas even eat burgers?) Here are some more details of what's inside Fashion 26:

The entire hotel is inspired by the eccentric neighborhood; details include a front desk constructed with cast iron legs from a sewing table, an ingenious art piece made of colorful thread spools, room keys that open with the wave of a hand using radio frequency technology and themed cupcakes upon arrival.

Wow, high-tech room key technology and cupcakes upon arrival? We like it already.

The hotel was expected to be named a Wyndham Hotel but someone had the foresight to change it. Fashion26 sounds much cooler than Wyndham. In the meantime, the hotel is listed on the Wyndham website here under the name Wyndham New York Chelsea. No word on the rates either but if it's a Wyndham it should be fairly reasonable.

We've also got a plethora of renderings from the hotel of the public spaces but unfortunately, no room shots. We'll post 'em here when we do. We confess: we hope the hotel outfits each room with a sewing machine. Not that we'd know how to use it but we wouldn't mind indulging in a Project Runway fantasy. Perhaps a cardboard cut-out of Tim Gunn could be included too? With a pre-recorded voice chip that says, "Make it work"? Pretty please?
