And just when we thought some hotel perks might be going away, the Distrikt Hotel is doing the opposite, promising guests a welcome gift, turndown service with a chocolate and a weather card, daily delivery of the NY Times, and airport grade 6/8-inch soundproofed windows so "the sounds of Broadway stay where they belong." Guests will also find in the rooms 37" flatscreen LG Tvs, Frette robes and linens, Ecru bath amenities and daily delivery of the NY Times. We also hear that the hotel is mulling some sweet options from NYC bakeries to dole out to guests. Yum!
Of course, like any respectable Manhattan boutique hotel, Distrikt will have a restaurant that will incorporate New York's favorite foods from knishes to the classic hot dog and locally brewed beers. The name will be Kollage. Ok. Time out. We could overlook the "k" instead of "c" in Distrikt but Kollage is pushing it. Please, please, please do not call the concierges "Koncierge."
We also hopped on over to the Distrikt website which is surprisingly fleshed out except for any room photos/renderings. We tried to make reservations for October 28 but no prices came up. So we'll keep you posted on the price point as well as what the rooms will look like. Word is, the hotel is still under construction.
In the meantime, you can follow their opening updates on Twitter or observe the hotel's cute Stoop Talk (essentially a Twitter feed on its website.) If you're a contest lover, then you should enter the hotel's contest where a randomly drawn winner will win a five night's stay and a gift card from American Express. All you have to do is name your own 10 favorite districts, with a "c."
