You know we love the infinity pools and the Department of Romance (staffed by a dedicated "Romance Coordinator") at the Las Ventanas al Paraiso resort in Cabo, but now it seems like the hotel figures all guests really need is a shot of good tequila to get the fiesta going.

Before you ask: no, this is not your chance to relive that glorious (and foggy) spring break you spent in Cancun doing body shots off sunburned coeds. The exclusive hotel is now offering classes led by their in-house Tequileros on the fine art of tequila appreciation. And you even get a diploma at the end...provided you’re coherent enough to answer the final test question.

Every Tuesday-Friday at 5:00pm, guests can gather at the resort’s new Tequila Bar to learn about the three categories of tequila: blanco, reposado, and añejo (yeah, we knew that). The Tequileros are specially trained staff members who hav traveled to Jalisco to study tequila-making and to learn about the classifications, the distillation process, and the appropriate way to drink the unofficial national drink of Mexico.

Along with the tequila, guests can enjoy that other Mexican staple, guacamole with chips, as well as several Mexican cheeses and ceviche, plus two different kinds of sangria. The whole enchilada, so to speak, costs $75 per person plus tax and gratuity.

The Tequila Bar serves food throughout the day, and at night, it transforms into a sushi bar featuring the fresh catch of the day from the Sea of Cortez accompanied by Mexican touches like chipotle sauce and hoja santa wrappings instead of seaweed. So if you can’t make it to the class, you can enjoy tequila on your own time. After all, you’re on vacation.

Rates at Las Ventanas start at $515 a night and include breakfast for two daily, $200 resort credit per stay and upgrade at arrival based on availability. A three-night minimum is required.
