This is what the beach in Atlantic City, NJ looks like, specifically just in front of The Chelsea Hotel. It's been open just barely a year, and as the city's only non-gaming nice hotel on the Boardwalk, we're surprised it's doing so well.

When we popped by last weekend, we noticed that the area of the beach covered with "The Chelsea" umbrellas and chaise loungers was definitely the most populous of all the hotel sand. Our theory? We think that the people who come to stay in The Chelsea in Atlantic City are the ones who are there to enjoy the natural beauty of Atlantic City (the beach, the walking down the boardwalk) rather than the lights and synthetic glamor of the casinos and expensive buffets at the other hotels.

And you know what? We're right there with The Chelsea guests; we can only handle so much Trump.

Altantic City Beaches in General

The Jersey shore beaches in general are pretty clean, they typically get combed every night and are well monitored. Water is not clear, not like you would find in the Gulf or Caribbean at least, but more of a bluish green. All the same it is typically clean, just not see through to much depth. The ocean is somewhat calm, though big waves and strong currents can and do happen regularly, especially if there's any weather. Even on a clear day you wouldn't want to get out too far, and the lifeguards won't let you.Stay at the best Atlantic City oceanfront Hotels .In general pretty good as far as beaches go, you can surf if you want to, or you can lay on the sand or anything in between, so have fun!
