Located on a tiny island seven miles off the Southeast Coast of Puerto Rico, the hotel opened a W Kiosk in the Consorcio del Noreste Division of Vieques on August 11 in search of prospective "talent." The W Vieques is looking to recruit staff for more than 250 jobs, making it the largest employer on the island. The hotel uses its way with words to craft some unusual-sounding job titles: It's looking to fill positions such as "Director of Style" (a person to manage the housekeeping department) and "Door Ambassador" (a greeter and bellhop). The talent search will continue through mid-November.
As if the talent show weren't enough of a hullabaloo, the hotel got Vieques Mayor Evelyn Delerme Camacho to guest star at a ribbon-cutting ceremony in celebration of the local workforce held on the day the kiosk debuted. To give back to that workforce, the hotel partnered with Northeastern University in Puerto Rico to create a training program designed to help any Vieques residents who want a career in the hospitality industry. After all, the hotel is always in need of good "Talent Coaches" (managers).
