This is good news, of course, but does sound a bit like they're not getting the bookings they'd hoped for. Let's just blame the global financial crisis, because the resort itself certainly sounds enticing enough. C'mon, it's the Maldives, and nearly anywhere there is pure island luxury, and this place is no exception.
The fine print of the deal isn't too tricky: Basically, book two nights but pay for one, or four nights and pay for two, et cetera. That means you might get a rate down at $135 a night (taking the deal into account) which is a Maldives bargain. You'll still have to pay the $400 sea plane transfer fee though (unless you want to try swimming?).
