Attention cougars and the buff young men who love them: the First Annual Cougar Convention takes place this month at Dinah's Garden Hotel in Palo Alto, CA.
There will be booze since the hotel boasts a Trader Vic's bar, there will be women in revealing cheetah-print and lace tops, and there will be a Miss Cougar America beauty competition. If this sounds up your alley, then we recommend making reservations as soon as possible since all of this merriment goes down on August 28.
Wondering exactly what the definition of "cougar" is? Luckily for all of this, the convention is based on a book by Valerie Gibson entitled Cougar: A Guide for Older Women Dating Younger Men, in which a cougar is explained:
A cougar is the new breed of single, older woman—confident, sophisticated, desirable, and sexy. She knows exactly what she wants. What she wants is younger men and lots of great sex. What she doesn’t want is children, cohabitation, or commitment.
And just so you're convinced that this convention is legit, there will be a keynote speech ("Cougar-Luscious: Irresistible Dating & Relating for Older Women and Younger Men") and the Cougar Ball. Entrance to the party is $15 in advance or $20 at the door, and special rates for the event at the hotel run $99 a night, which you can score by calling 650-849-9800. We'd like to think that Silicon Valley denizens would be able to afford better, but after a few umbrella drinks from Trader Vics, Dinah's should be just as good as The Ritz.
