Room Reaction
Our room was in a townhouse two doors down from the B&B. The room was on the small side, but as elegant as the rest of the building, which was built in 1834, with a big white old-fashioned headboard, soft lighting and flowered bedspreads. The bathroom had a more modern feel with warm brownish-pink tiles, new facet fixtures and a good shower, meaning not one of the cheap European kinds that leaves a lake on the bathroom floor every time someone takes a shower.
Internet Connect
We weren't able to get WiFi in our room, but the lounge offered access for free. The lounge, filled with slightly worn flower-patterned Victorian furniture, was a good place to linger with our laptops while we planned the rest of our Dublin adventures.
What We Liked
The best part of the Kilronan was the yummy Irish breakfast that's included in the price (we spent $120 for two people on a weekday). Many Dublin hotels tout their breakfast but it ends up being a blah spread of yogurt, cereal and more cereal. This was a real-deal meal with choices like eggs topped with salmon and crepes.
What We Didn't Like
The downside of the B&B is that it's just outside of city center. However, it's a few blocks away from the lovely St. Stephen's Green and it sits along a residential block, for those who want a more quiet place to stay. So if you're looking for the bar action, this isn't an easy stumble back to your bed. But if you keep your drunk card on you, you'll be fine.
