Kinda like a hopped up version of the “The Bachelor,” VH1’s new program, “My Antonio,” features 13 lovely ladies who are thrust into a soap opera like scenario to win over the heartthrob’s, umm, heart, with the help of some pro matchmakers. We just pray to gawd it’s not the annoying old guy in the eHarmony.com commercials.
Ten episodes of the $4-million-dollar plus “docu-soap” were shot at Hilton Waikoloa Village on Hawai'i's Big Island – the cast and crew stayed here, too. Competitions include reenacting love scenes, skydiving in an evening gown center around the theme of soap operas, and pretending they're pregnant to marry him. Gee, that’s original.
The guy who co-producer the series, Scott Shotski worked on Top Chef and Project Runway, so we hope it doesn’t totally suck, but despite the obvious eye-candy, we're pretty sure it will. "My Antonio" premieres on VH1 on Sunday, Aug. 16th.
Rooms at Hilton Waikoloa Village start at $199 a night.
