All Is Well: Four Seasons' Concierge Services Aren't Changing

July 7, 2009 at 10:51 AM | by | Comments (3)

False alarm, kiddies (or so we're told): Four Seasons is not, in fact, phasing out its concierge services, as we'd speculated yesterday — it was apparently just a rumor.

A rep for Four Seasons says:

Just to clarify, under no circumstance is Four Seasons "phasing out" the Concierge service in our 82 properties worldwide. We have fully-trained Concierge staff at all of our properties who will continue to perform this vital function for our guests.

Four Seasons pioneered company-wide Concierge service back in the early 80’s and we understand how valuable it is to our guests. In fact, in our guest satisfaction surveys, our Concierge services continue to rank as one of the services that our guests are most pleased with.

So there you have it. Under no circumstances. Interesting.

Still, let us know if you see any evidence to the contrary — we're always lookin' for dirt.

Spin Doctor

I gotta say that this is corporate spin if there ever was corporate spin.  Walk in the front door of the Four Seasons San Francisco and tell me how many 'real' concierges you count.  I commented on the original article with the facts - this story is just PR dust. Fact is that you have several properties, San Francisco, Miama, Whistler BC at which xperienced concierge staff has been cut to the bone.

Fact or Fiction - when you walk in the lobby of the Four Seasons San Francisco this time next week, the concierge desk will be vacated...

Please no spin just truth...

Spin Doctor II

It was revealed to me several months ago that the Concierge at the Four Seasons Hotel Atlanta were "relocated" from their prominent location in the lobby to an out-of-sight "cubbyhole" adjacent to the Front Desk where they are requested to work both desks.

Millennium Management in Financial Trouble

Substantiating an earlier post about the Four Seasons SF's owner being in financial trouble:

These real estate wizards have a new condo tower 65% unsold and are pinching every penny they can and Four Seasons is buckling to their demands.
