Yesterday, we announced the winner of our Hotel Preston dream amenity contest: the mind behind the simple-but-brilliant idea to stick an acoustic guitar in the guestrooms for guests' plucking and strumming pleasure (or at least for some cute photo opps for the ol' Facebook album).

Up in Chicago, the more hard-rock-minded (heh) musicians or musician-wannabe's have a sweet opportunity, thanks to Gibson Guitars and the Hard Rock Chicago: On the eve of the Lollapalloza Music Festival (August 7-9, 2009), guests checking into the Hard Rock have the opportunity to "Check In and Rock Out" (oy, we know, we didn't make this name up) with their very own loaned Gibson guitar.

Upon your arrival, you can check out "a variety of top-of-the-line guitars from Gibson" — and you can take it back to your room — with a pod and ear phones, if course — where you can rock on out.

If this means anything to you, here are some of the guitars that will be available: a Gibson Angus Young Signature SG, Gibson Les Paul Standard Goldtop and Gibson ES-335 Cherry.

The hotel is also running two packages for Lolla weekend: The "Groupie 101" package offers "privileged access to star-studded post parties" and passes to the festival itself, starting at $599 a night. The "Dude, My Name is on the List" package gives you "the best in exclusive party and promo access," with "supreme" food and drink inclusions, and the best tickets available for the festival itself — and it goes for $1,299 a night.
