All Quiet on the Home2 Suites Front...

It may be hard to think of Hilton as rockin' something awesome before the Great Denizen Fail (GDF), but let us all take a moment to remember that Hilton actually had another brand they'd launched prior to the GDF: Home2Suites. And it was actually a really cool concept; an extended-stay, hip, young and sustainable brand for the savvy young business-traveling hotshots.

Originally announced back in January, the media blitz was the kickoff to a plan to open 100 properties by the end of 2012 and another 60-70 in 2013. Construction on the first Home2 was expected to happen within six months (so, like, now-ish would be the time), though it's been pretty quiet on the Home2 front for a while now.

Aside from the April announcement that the brand chose to outfit "its model prototype at the Memphis, Tenn. headquarters" with InterfaceFLOR carpeting (which is made up of 70 percent total recycled content), there's been no news on where the first property will open.

But a quickie look-see on the franchiser FAQ site shows that the brand already had "eight approved franchise license agreements before even launching the product," and the last press release (in April) mentioned "submitted franchise applications" in NYC; Baltimore/White Marsh; Charlotte; Jacksonville; Gadsden, AL; Elko, NV and three hotels in San Antonio.

Er, maybe this one in Davis County, Utah may be our best bet.

Anyone got any gossip? Send it our way.

Home2Suites Brand

My company, H & H Installations, Inc, recently had the pleasure of meeting with Tanya Guidry (Senior Director with Hilton Corp in Memphis, TN) and did a "walk thru" with her on the Home2Suites Brand Model Room in Memphis.  Things look to be coming along quite well for the new brand of hotel.  From meeting with Tanya and several other reps, we found out that 50 applications have been approved for the hotel brand.  This means 50 of the Home2Suites opening by 2012 and many more to come after that.  (Lets hope it continues to grow as it is now).
