We got to take a quick look see of The Woodmark Hotel last weekend, while attending Kirkland Uncorked, a food, wine and arts festival on Seattle’s eastside. As a jaded Seattleite, we admit, we rarely venture east of Emerald City for our social and cultural needs, but are damn happy we did.

Once a logging community, Kirkland then became a bedroom community, and is coming into its own as a hip little urban lite community/Seattle side-trip tourist destination within spitting distance of dozens of wineries. Who knew? (Oh, and Washington wines are well worth checking out.)

Anyway, The Woodmark Hotel is the only hotel smack dab on the shores of Lake Washington. And it’s pretty much a given that lakefront living evokes fond memories of summer camp, right? So the smarty pants at The Woodmark Hotel designed a package, “Camp Woodmark,” that’s all about escapism (and who couldn’t use a little bit of that these days?) and channeling your inner kiddie camper.

Guests are assigned a “Camp Canselor”, who will help them plan their fave childhood camp activities, with an adult twist, of course. The two-night minimum package includes such "camp activities" like summer cocktail making classes, dinner with tableside s'mores, morning yoga, kayaking, a cooking class and even a scavenger hunt. Guests can also partake in some more leisure activities like bocce ball and croquet, boardgames and a cruise of Lake Washington aboard The Woodmark II.

Guests of The Woodmark Hotel can even enjoy Outdoor Movie Night every Saturday evening on the Lake from July 18 – August 22, 2009. Movies cost $5 per person.

The details: The Camp Woodmark package starts at $1,625 and is based on double occupancy in a Junior Suite for a minimum two-night stay.
