Gosh, it feels like it's been forever since we last commented on the progress still underway at The Ace Hotel in New York. The rooms may be open for sleeping and the lobby open for drinking, but its Breslin restaurant, Stumptown coffeeshop, and Project No. 8a Boutique are still very much under construction tarps.

At first rumored to be opening in late summer—which would mean they should be looking near done in order to train wait staff and such—the hotel's many other amenities are now slated for early fall. This probably means September, but knowing that The Ace is nothing if not infamous for its quiet continual delaying, we'll place our chips on October.

For a moment, since we love hotel boutiques, let's focus on what to expect from Project No. 8a, which will be a travel-focused outpost of the popular Lower East Side shop Project No. 8. There's apparently a limited edition collaboration clothing line in the works between 8a and The Ace, which includes an $850 unisex Project 8a x Ace x Mackintosh Raincoat, which WWD points out as being "roughly the price of an eight-night stay in one of the hotel's modest suites." It's a bit expensive for a hotel which aims for homey over haute, but we'll reserve any judgments for when the place actually opens.
