Fairmont Pools: We Want To Go To There

July 1, 2009 at 11:25 AM | by KatieK | 0 Comments

Ah, rooftop pools. For the city dweller — and traveler — little tops lounging by a pool, lofted above the clamor with a summer sip in hand. Fairmont gets that sentiment, offering a number of rooftop pools and alfresco patios at their hotels around the world.

The one we’re most dying to be whisked away to, um, RIGHT now? The Fairmont Monte Carlo, with a heated rooftop pool that overlooks the Mediterranean, Opera, and the hairpin turn of the Formula 1 Grand Prix. We just hope we don’t spill Champagne on our maillot de bain.

Bermuda travelers sick of all that on-the-beach sun-drenching (we will shed no tears for you!) can retreat to the Fairmont Hamilton Princess, which as a harbor-side outdoor terrace with Friday (5 to 9 p.m.) happy hours of Dark n’ Stormy’s, Rum Swizzles, and an island BBQ. And the Fairmont Zimbali Lodge in South Africa has an infinity pool and a casual restaurant stilted above the resort’s 14th fairway, with views of the Indian Ocean.

While we’re fantasizing, the coming-on-October-1st Fairmont Nile City sounds pretty spectacular too. Its 25th floor Sky Pool will have poolside cocktails, private cabana massages, floating bars, and a view of the Nile. Oh yeah, and sunset views of the Pyramids. (Note to Fairmont: We would be happy to cover this Very Important Hotel Opening if you’d like to send us there. Please and thanks.)

Of course, you don’t have to be a total jetsetter to enjoy Fairmont’s outdoor offerings. In North America, check out the Fairmont Battery Wharf in Boston’s new waterfront patio, the Fairmont Newport Beach’s third-floor Palms Pool and Cabanas (offering “Adults-Only Ice Cream”), the Fairmont Orchid Hawaii’s oceanfront pool, the Fairmont Dallas’s newly renovated terrace pool and sun deck, and the Fairmont Chateau Whistler’s pool deck with outdoor hot tubs.
