We sort of prefer The Bachelor to The Bachelorette — what? Doesn't everyone? — but when it comes down to it, we'll watch it if we've got nothin' else happening on a rainy summer night. And then we get addicted to it and yada yada; you know the rest.

We suppose we'll now have a valid excuse to switch it on, though: tonight's episode is hotel geek-esque. The Bachelorette, Jillian, actually surprises the thirteen suitors "with a romantic trip to her hometown of Vancouver."

Supposedly, the episode that airs tonight is going to be totally filmed in Vancouver and some of the dates planned include "a romantic dinner at Grouse Mountain Resort, a kayaking excursion to Granville Island, a romantic picnic in Stanley Park, and a Vancouver harbour cruise aboard the classic luxury yacht, Pacific Yellowfin, complete with a Dungeness crab dinner hosted by adventure travel outfitter Exposure." And then, of course, she makes them go curling.

Oh, the hotel geek part: the dudes got put up in the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver downtown. They stayed in a massive suite (with three bathrooms, natch, so the dudes could have ample space to apply their hair goop pre-date), and plenty of the hotel will be featured throughout the show. Tonight's eppy features the Morningside Suite as the site of its pre-rose ceremony, while the final rose ceremony was filmed in the hotel’s boardroom.

For non-Bachelorette contestants, the rates here start around $249 CAD — or about $225 USD.
