If You Do Your Wedding Up Right, You Get a Free Honeymoon Stay

June 4, 2009 at 5:04 PM | by Jenna | 1 Comment

Wedding season is here. For many of us, that means it's time to dust off the dancin' shoes, check out those registries and clear room in the closet for that hideous bridesmaid's dress — but for a lucky (or unlucky) few, now's the time to be picking out invitations, scoping out florists, test-driving DJ's and showing off that blinding bling. This week, we're kicking off a summer of bringing you all the new need-to-know info about hotel weddings — tips, news and info about what goes down at hotels during the summertime vow season — whether you're attending one or saying your nuptials. Got some hotel wedding tips for us? Send 'em over.

You know, we are all for splurging on weddings — er, so long as we don't have to handle big-spendin' Bridezillas and, obvs, so long as we're not the ones bankrolling the nuptials.

It's supposed to be the most important day of a young lady's life! The day she dreams of forever and ever and remembers forever and always after that! So really, money should be no object (note: we are sort of kidding). But here's another reason to drop the big bucks for an all-out wedding celebration: at some chains, the more you spend on your wedding, the more free stuff you get afterward.

Take, for instance, a Ritz-Carlton wedding: some properties offer a three-night first-anniversary stay if you do up your wedding at a Ritz in the Caribbean and Mexico.

And then there's Hyatt's offer: you get a free honeymoon stay anywhere you want as long as you spend a certain amount of money on your Hyatt wedding. If you get married at Hyatt hotels or resorts in the U.S., Canada, Cancun, Mexico, or Aruba, you'll get complimentary room nights for your honeymoon at a participating Hyatt resort property. How many nights you get is based on minimum total amounts on the master bill:

· Complimentary 2-night stay for wedding when master bill totals $10,000
· Complimentary 3-night stay for wedding when master bill totals $20,000
· Complimentary 4-night stay for wedding when master bill totals $30,000
· Complimentary 5-night stay for wedding when master bill totals $40,000

The offer is valid for weddings booked now through June 2010, and you have to go on your honeymoon to redeem the nights before July 31, 2010 (so, um, book that wedding now). Reference the offer code WEDNIGHTS when you're talking to the sales rep for the hotel where you want to hold your wedding.

See? Spend big to get the wedding of your dreams and at least you'll be rewarded with something more than just pretty photos and happy memories.

    that's a nice offer but...

pretty much every luxury hotel will do this or something similar, especially if you have a room block for your wedding
