Will a Green Hotel Move in Next to the Sears Tower?

June 24, 2009 at 9:57 AM | by Jenna | 0 Comments

Ooooh, imagine looking out your hotel room window directly onto the Sears Tower. Or, how about this: imagine being able to roll into a cocktail party and tell your friends you were just shackin' up at "that Sears Tower hotel" last time you were in Chi-town?

Check this out: the owners of the Sears Tower (officially America's tallest building) are considering pursuing some big hotel dreams, as faint whispers of plans to build a green hotel right next door to the Sears Tower have started to become the newest hot gossip.

According to the Wall Street Journal:

The hotel would be part of a broader plan to green up the iconic skyscraper, which could include replacing the building's infrastructure and putting wind turbines on the 110-story tower, said Alderman Robert Fioretti.

Oh, and also: the tower's name is supposedly going to be changed to "Willis Tower" when an agreement to lease a big chunk of the structure to a London insurance company of the same name goes through. So this could be, like, "that Willis Tower hotel."
