Even The Beverly Hills Hotel is Bringing in The DJs

These are good times for DJs. Previously, the disc jockeys were only called in for the weekends and special events (hello, middle school dances!) but now they seem to have regular spinning gigs every night. And it's not just limited to bars and clubs. Even hotels are getting in on the DJ action--hotels like The Beverly Hills Hotel and its Bar Nineteen 12.
In an attempt to shed her fusty old image (room rates do start at around $500, after all!), Beverly Hills’ Pink Lady is launching a new summer DJ series at Bar Nineteen 12 in the lobby in honor of the bar’s two-year anniversary. Guess they don’t want the riff-raff roaming all the way into the hotel, but at least you still get a view of the gardens and pool.
Named in honor of the year the hotel first opened, Bar Nineteen 12 is “where timeless glamour and chic innovation meet.” Apparently theses days, it’s more about the innovation, since the DJ series is all about getting young folks into the place.
“Get Ready” Thursdays and Fridays with DJ Menelik will run from 9:00pm-1:30am, while Saturdays through June will find DJ Lo spinning. The event also features discounted specialty cocktails. Before you get too excited, that just means the price has dropped from a pre-recession high of $18 to a...well, pre-recession standard $14. Still, it’s better than nothing, and as the bar points out, “that’s a savings of 22%!”. Well, at least they're enthusiastic about it.
