Gansevoort Park Ave South Will Open Next Summer with Free WiFi

While we had high hopes that the Gansevoort Park Avenue South would be opening its door this summer, it looks like next summer is a better bet. The Gansevoort Hotel website has put up some new info and pictures of the place including an official Summer 2010 opening date (above).

The photos are tiny so we'll have to rely on the hotel's descriptions to "see" what we're gonna get when the hotel opens. Does Gansevoort mean "rooftop parties" in Dutch? Either way, the rooftop will be a huge part of the experience here. The hotel's description says:

Three levels of outdoor rooftop space totaling over 13,000 sq ft, dotted with fireplaces, Plunge Rooftop Pool + Lounge and a magnificent event space.

There will be 249 guestrooms and suites, averaging over 450-sq.ft with Juliet balconies. The duplex penthouse suite will have an indoor/outdoor fireplace and private terrace. The hotel will also have a full service spa from Exhale and and 10,000-sq.ft "signature" restaurant.

But we're most excited about the complimentary WiFi for guests. It's nice to see that even though the Gansevoorts expanding their brand (Gansevoort South, Toronto and Turks & Caicos) they can still keep some of the free perks for guests. There's no price point yet and that will probably depend on how the economy is faring this time next year.
