The Five Best Hotels For The Fourth of July

June 16, 2009 at 5:52 PM | by Jenna | 1 Comment

Sweet land of Libertinis: the Ritz-Carlton Battery Park's "Libertini" cocktail.

Every summer, we do our best to round up our picks for the Best Hotels for Fourth of July Fireworks — they're the ones with the rooftops and the kickass views of whatever fireworks displays are goin' on in some of the biggest cities.

This year, we took our search nationwide and have hand-picked the hotels across the country that we think are offering up the sweetest Independence Day packages, the most patriotic amenities and, of course, very best fireworks views.

Got a suggestion to add? Drop it on into the comments.

1. Ritz-Carlton Battery Park; New York, NY.
We have seen few views quite as fantastic as the view out onto the Statue of Liberty from the Ritz-Carlton Battery Park — and there are few things as patriotic as spending Independence Day gazing at Lady Liberty. Snag a Libertini in the bar downstairs and book yourself into the hotel; bonus: the statue's crown actually re-opens on July 4th, too.
Starting at $325 per night.

2. Four Seasons Chicago; Chicago, IL.
Fireworks over the lake. Mmmm. Four Seasons luxe-ness. Even more "mmm." Chicago will be rockin' back-to-back lakefront fireworks displays on July 3rd and 4th this year, and the Taste of Chicago festival will be goin' down around that time, too. The Four Seasons has kickass views of the lake and the city, and if you book two nights or more through the Experience More Package, you'll score a Moderate, Superior, Deluxe or Premier Room and $100 credit toward your room rate per night.
Starting at $395 per night.

3. Donovan House; Washington, D.C..
Okay, perhaps the one thing that may be more patriotic than checking out fireworks near Lady Liberty is watching them go off in our nation's capital. Why not just crash at the swank new Donovan House while you check out all the crazy stuff going on around DC for Independence Day weekend? From the Independence Day Parade to the outdoor concerts that evening, there will be puh-lenty to keep you occupied in the District. Also, maybe you can cross your fingers for that new rooftop lounge to open up on top of the hotel by then, eh?
With a third night free offer we found on Hotels.com, this comes out to $112.67 per night for travel July 2 – July 5.

4. The Charles Hotel; Boston, MA.
The Charles Hotel is, duh, pretty close to the Charles River, and you can check out the famous Fourth of July Fireworks from the Larz Anderson Bridge or from a spot you snag on the grass along the river. Or you can watch the fireworks on TV from your bathroom, you know, in case some sort of Boston seafood ends up not sitting so well.
Special rates for the night of the 4th start at $199.

5. The Good Hotel; San Francisco, CA
We've gotta continue to dish the love for the Good Hotel in San Francisco, because what's more American than some good old-fashioned philanthropy (the hotel has a major emphasis on sustainable practices and encourages volunteering)? Down in San Fran's SOMA district sits the cutesy-witty (and inexpensive) Good Hotel, and on the 4th, there's the KFOG KaBoom music festival and fireworks show goin' down on at piers 30/32 (featuring Los Lonely Boys, hehe).
Starting at $84 on the night of the 4th.

You missed the Birthplace of the Nation!

Wowzers - you can't leave Philadelphia, the birthplace of independence, out of this list!

At nightfall on June 27, top-notch talent takes to the stage for a free concert followed by a dazzling fireworks display over the Delaware River. Check out the Hyatt Penn's Landing for that.

As always, the Sunoco Welcome America! festival literally ends with a bang. When the sun goes down on July 4, there's a free concert under the stars followed by an amazing fireworks grand finale at the Philadelphia Museum of Art. The hotels along the Parkway, such as The Four Seasons Hotel Philadelphia, would be perfect for that.
