The Joie De Vivre Hotel Group is slowly taking over California with its chain of stylish boutique hotels, including the new Hotel Maya in Long Beach. Later this month, JDV will also be opening the Hotel Erwin right in the heart of Venice Beach, just blocks from the ocean, the Venice canals, and shop-filled Abbott Kinney Boulevard.

The 119-room "urban beach hotel" is set to open sometime in late June (we have yet to learn the exact date) after completing an extensive re-design. It was previously the Best Western Marina Pacific.

Graffiti-inspired works of art, as well as a few more upscale décor touches, are sprinkled throughout the hotel, mixing “residential touches with edgy artistic countercultural elements and pop-style furnishings,” and reflecting the idiosyncratic atmosphere of the Venice Boardwalk, just steps away from the hotel.

Rooms have 32- to 42-inch flat screen TVs with iPod docking stations. The 38 one-bedroom suites also have a queen-sized sofa bed, wet bar, fireplace and bathrooms with two-person walk-in showers for a full night of…entertaining.

The hotel will have a rooftop lounge called HIGH, offering 360-degree views, as well as a small restaurant called HASH, where the seasonal dishes will be made straight from farmer’s market ingredients.

Peak summer rates will start at $269, so get your reservation in now by calling (310) 452-1111.
