The Cooper Square's Neighbors Hear Your 'Every Drunken Inanity'

Whoa. We thought the Thompson LES's neighbors had it bad — and they do, they really, really do — but we supposed the Cooper Square Hotel's neighbors were all about poopy-underwear and megaphone games. Until we saw this video.

Yes, it's a bit dramatic with the text and captions and such, but this clip — which came via The Feedbag, things do not look pleasant. At all.

They can hear everything you say. Boyfriend dumped you? The neighbors will hear all about it and laugh about how maybe he dumped you because your voice is so shrill. Leaving your job? Everyone will toast to you out on the CSH deck while the neighbors will undoubtedly be counting down the seconds until your departure from the bar. Actually, maybe your coworkers will be doing that too.

Wow. This sucks.

    am i the only one

that thinks that inanity is a really terrible word?

why do we need to nounify a perfectly good adjective like inane?

    noise

as someone who owns a home in bklyn and has been here before the new loud bar who keeps its doors open all night with a high powered stero system and an 'upscale' asian fusion sidewalk cafe with 26 seats facing your bedroom, I understand their complaint. After working 11 hours a day dealing with other's complaints, you need to recharge your batteries and get yourself ready for another day of being an upbeat hotel manager. I cant open my windows and enjoy a nice breeze without being assaulted by my new neighbors. If my home was a hotel, I'd be comping alot of guests due to noise complaints.

    Solution...

Hmmm.... as a hotel owner and general manager at a hotel with a popular rooftop bar (The Clarendon Hotel in Phoenix) I'd probably take some measures:  1st, make the neighbors happy, restrict the hours, and make sure each person gets a few comp'd nights to use until 12/30.... then I'd focus on enclosing the patio in a glass cube so people still get the natural light and the effect, without the noise going everywhere.  I'm assuming it's already a non-smoking space - that could be the big draw, and a lot of casual smokers smoke when they're loud and drunk.  No amplified music, no yelling, no shouting, etc.  Perhaps install some outdoor acoustic panels on the walls in the area?
