Every year, The Big Apple’s most stylish escape the summer heat and retreat to some of the most coveted lounge chairs in city at Plunge rooftop pool at Hotel Gansevoort. Smack dab in the heart of the meatpacking district, the 45-foot pool offers spectacular 360-degree panorama views of the city. Prince has rocked this rooftop; Maxim hosted its “Hot 100 Party” here as well. It’s exactly the kind of place you want to get horizontal, ward off a hangover with a Bloody Mary, and ogle the celeb-heavy sun worshippers.

The Gansevoort is helping guests get caught up on their summer reading lists with free poolside Reader Digital Books by Sony. The Algonquin offers free use of the Amazon Kindle on property, but Hotel Gansevoort is staking claim as the first hotel to roll out complimentary use of the new Sony e-reader.

The trendy hotel takes the needs of its tech-savvy guests seriously: they made complimentary Wii consoles available about a year ago and had to recently order more due to popular demand. They suspect that the Digital Reader Books by Sony will be a successful addition to the hotel’s list of cool comp gadgets. Hotel Gansevoort already has a great relationship with Sony – the Miami outpost of the G-voort has a "Sony Cierge" Suite, a custom space with the latest Sony technology: four Sony 40” LCD Hi-Definition flat-screen televisions, Sony Dream System stereos with surround sound and a PlayStation 3.

So, whether you want to play armchair tourist with First Stop in the New World (by David Lida, Riverhead) or tap into guilty pleasures with Vogue, you can forget about library late fees and schlepping around oversized September issues of your fave fashion magazines this summer at Hotel Gansevoort.
